Thinking of getting a dog, Scottie or a Schnauzer?

I have narrowed it down to two breeds. The ever-adorable Scottish Terrier, or the friendly and loving Schnauzer?

Both of them have the temperments and size that I am looking for. As a groomer, they both give me ample space for some artistic meddling :)

I’m just torn between the two. I love schnauzers, they’re so intelligent. But scotties are also intelligent and really cute. I know some of the problems with Schnauzers, but what kind of medical issues would scotties have?

ps- just so you all know, I’ve had dogs my whole life. I’m no longer under my mother’s roof and am looking for a companda to share my life with.
Can people with scotties give some more examples about their individual attitudes and such? I know schnauzers are highly people-orientated. Are scotties friendly with all people or really one person dogs?

Getting a third Scottish Terrier what gender and age?

I have two Scottie gentlemen now. Ages 8.5 & 9. They and I have all been together since they were 8 wks old.
We often enjoy having a visit of a neighbor or friends dog. We don’t always notice which gender fits best with us.
One of my boys is an alpha and one is a fetch monger.
Do you think we should favor a female to go with these boys or should we make it a boys club?
We are going to rescue this Scottie from the Scottish Terrier Rescue Assoc.
Any tips?
